The story behind RealSalary.in
It started with a conversation most Indian professionals have had — you get an offer letter, it says ₹18 LPA, and you're excited. Then your first salary credit arrives and it's ₹1,11,350. Where did the rest go?
We searched for a calculator that could answer this simply and honestly. Most were cluttered, confusing, or quietly collected your data. So we built our own — and then kept building, adding tools for what a raise is really worth, and how much you actually need to retire early.
We’re an independent team — technologists and long-time investors who got tired of not knowing what our own salaries were really worth. We’re not chartered accountants or registered financial advisors, and nothing here is financial advice. What we are is meticulous about the math: every calculator is built on published, current tax rules, transparent about its assumptions, and designed so you can check the numbers against your own payslip.
